About Zulip
Zulip
Zulip is a powerful, open source group chat application
Zulip is an open-source team chat application that organizes conversations into streams and topics, so a busy group can follow many threads without losing track of them. It is built for distributed teams that work asynchronously, and the site describes it as designed for async conversation. You can use Zulip Cloud, which is managed and always up to date, or self-host it on your own servers with the full feature set and an export and import path to move between the two. The product includes a feature matrix, desktop and mobile apps, hundreds of integrations, an API, and advanced roles and permissions with guest accounts. The site lists case studies from businesses, universities, research groups and open-source communities. The free Zulip Cloud plan includes 10,000 messages of search history and 5 GB of file storage, and many organizations are eligible for a free Standard plan. The Standard plan is 6.67 dollars per user a month billed annually, or 8 dollars billed monthly, with unlimited search history, custom groups, message retention policies, custom branding and priority commercial support. The Plus plan is 10 dollars per user a month billed annually, with SAML single sign-on, SCIM user sync and a custom domain, and a minimum of 10 users. Self-hosting is free and open source under Apache-2.0, and mobile notifications are free for eligible communities.
