add-educational-comments

Add educational comments to code files

add-educational-comments is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection for adding educational comments to code files so they work as learning material. It adapts the depth and tone of its explanations to one of three configurable knowledge levels: beginner, intermediate and advanced. For beginners it gives foundational explanations, for intermediate readers it adds practical insights and best practices, and for advanced readers it offers deeper context on performance, architecture and language internals. The skill is careful to suggest code improvements only where they help understanding, and it keeps the file's structure, encoding and build correctness intact. Its stated size rule is to increase the total line count by 125 percent using educational comments only, up to 400 new lines, and when a file has already been processed it updates the existing notes instead of adding them again. When no file is named, the skill asks for one and offers a numbered list of close matches so the user can choose quickly. The skill is useful for teachers, for onboarding materials, and for developers who want a file explained for a team with mixed experience. Because it adds comments to the code, the changes should be reviewed like any other edit, and the file should still be run and tested after it is annotated. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 9.2K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
