About breakdown-feature-prd

breakdown-feature-prd
Structured PRD generation prompt
breakdown-feature-prd is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection, a prompt for writing a Product Requirements Document (PRD) for a single feature that belongs to a larger epic. The agent acts as an expert product manager for a large-scale SaaS platform. It takes a high-level feature or enabler from the parent epic and turns it into a detailed PRD that becomes the single source of truth for the engineering team and the input to a technical specification. The output is a complete Markdown document in a planning folder organized by epic and feature name. The PRD follows a standard structure: the feature name, the parent epic, the goals, the user personas, the user stories, the functional and non-functional requirements, and the acceptance criteria that say when each requirement is met. If the request or the parent epic does not give enough information, the prompt asks clarifying questions before drafting, so the requirements are settled rather than invented. The skill is useful for product managers who break an epic into features, and for engineering leads who want each feature defined before design and build work starts. The PRD still needs the product owner's decisions on priority and trade-offs, so the requirements should be reviewed with stakeholders before the specification is written from them. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 10.0K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
