About cloud-design-patterns

C

cloud-design-patterns

Cloud design patterns

cloud-design-patterns is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that covers 42 cloud design patterns for distributed systems. These are established solutions to recurring problems in cloud architecture, grouped by concern: reliability, performance, messaging, security and others. The patterns are technology-agnostic, so they apply on Azure, on other clouds, on-premises or in hybrid setups, and the skill explains how they support the design process. Its premise is that cloud workloads are vulnerable to the fallacies of distributed computing, the common but wrong assumptions that the network is reliable, that latency is zero and that the system never changes, and that patterns counter those assumptions in a structured way. Architects combine the patterns to meet functional and nonfunctional requirements, which cover reliability, security, cost, operational efficiency and performance. The skill is useful when choosing a topology or method for a workload, reviewing an architecture against known problems, or explaining trade-offs to a team. Patterns are not free: each adds complexity, so the architect should pick those that solve a real problem in the workload rather than adopting all of them. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 2.2K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
