About context-compression

context-compression
When agent sessions generate millions of tokens of conversation history
context-compression is an agent skill for managing agent sessions whose conversation history grows past the context window. It is for sessions that exceed context limits, codebases larger than a context window, designing conversation summarisation, debugging agents that forget the files they changed, and building evaluations of compression quality. The skill's key point is that the optimisation target is tokens per task, the total tokens needed to finish a task including any re-fetching caused by lost information, rather than tokens per request. It describes three approaches. Anchored iterative summarisation keeps a structured summary with sections for intent, file changes, decisions and next steps, and summarises only the newly truncated part before merging it. Opaque compression reaches very high ratios but cannot be inspected, so you cannot verify what was kept. Use it when you are designing how an agent keeps its memory of a long task. It is part of the sickn33/agentic-awesome-skills repository on GitHub, which has about 47,600 stars. The listing shows it as free, and it has about 1,400 installs. Its security audits show passes from Gen Agent Trust Hub, Socket and Snyk.
