About create-llms

C

create-llms

Generates a specification-compliant llms.txt file

create-llms is an agent skill from the github/awesome-copilot collection that writes an llms.txt file at the root of a repository, following the specification published at llmstxt.org. An llms.txt file is a Markdown guide that tells large language models where to find the most useful content in a project, such as the purpose of the repository, its specifications, examples and key documentation. It is meant to be read by machines and remain readable by people. The skill works in two phases. It first reviews the llms.txt specification to ensure the file complies with its required structure and markdown conventions, then analyzes the repository layout, identifying the key files such as READMEs, specifications, examples and configuration, and cataloging how the documentation is organized. Only after this analysis does it write the file, so the entry points it lists point to files that actually exist and matter. The skill is useful for maintainers who want AI tools to understand a project quickly, and for projects with a lot of documentation that is hard to navigate. The generated file should be checked against the real repository, because links to files that were moved or removed are easy to leave behind, and the file should be updated when the structure changes. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the github/awesome-copilot repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 9.2K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
