Creates, reads, edits, and manipulates Word documents

docx is an agent skill for creating, reading, editing and analysing Word documents, which are .docx files, and Word templates, which are .dotx files. A .docx file is a ZIP archive of XML files, and the skill chooses an approach by task. To create a new document, it writes a script with the docx npm library. To fill placeholders in a template, it uses a patch function that takes data, an output type and patches. To edit existing content, it unpacks the file, edits the relevant XML parts, and repackages it safely. To read content, it uses pandoc, with the track-changes option set so that reviewers can see every change, or accepts changes for the clean text. The skill targets docx version 9.8.1. It asks you to check that the library is available in the script's project and to install it there if needed, because setup varies by environment. It also lists layout constraints that matter when generating documents with docx-js. Use it whenever the deliverable is a Word document, or whenever a .docx file has to be read or changed. It is part of the k-dense-ai scientific agent skills repository on GitHub, which has about 49,600 stars. The listing shows it as free.
