About i18n

i18n
User-facing strings and react-i18next locale keys, namespaces, interpolation
i18n is an agent skill from the LobeHub repository that sets the rules for user-facing text and its translations. The app uses react-i18next, with English (en-US) as the default language, and the skill covers locale keys, namespaces, interpolation and translations. Its main rule is about where text is edited: only the files in packages/locales/src/default/ are changed by hand. The JSON files in the locales folders are generated, so translations should not be written there, apart from the en-US and zh-CN previews, and generated locales change through the lobe-i18n tool and a daily auto-i18n workflow. The guide asks you to run bun run i18n yourself only when the generated locales are needed immediately. Keys use a flat dot notation, such as sync.status.ready, rather than nested objects, and the guide gives correct and incorrect examples. It also covers how to change the English text of an existing key, which involves deleting keys in the generated files. The skill is for contributors adding or changing any text the user sees in the app. It passes Gen Agent Trust Hub, Socket and Snyk on skills.sh. Install it with npx skills add https://github.com/lobehub/lobehub --skill i18n.
