Diagnose interface errors, drops, CRCs, duplex mismatches, flapping
by affaan-mFree
Description
network-interface-health is an agent skill from the ECC collection by affaan-m, listed on skills.sh. It diagnoses problems on the physical side of a network: interface errors, drops, CRC errors, duplex mismatches, flapping links, speed negotiation issues and counter trends on routers, switches and Linux hosts. It applies when a network symptom may come from a cable, transceiver, switch port, duplex setting or congested interface, when a host or VLAN shows packet loss, latency spikes or intermittent reachability, when an interface reports CRCs, runts, giants, drops, resets or flaps, when both ends of a link need comparing before hardware is replaced, and when monitoring reports rising interface error or discard counters. The method is to capture a baseline, wait a measurement interval, capture again, and compare the increments, since the trend matters more than the absolute number. A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a task calls for it. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.…

network-interface-health FAQ
What does the network-interface-health skill do?
It finds physical and port-level causes of network problems, such as CRC errors, drops, duplex mismatches and flapping links.
Why does it compare two readings?
The listing says the trend matters more than the absolute counter, so it captures a baseline, waits, captures again and compares the increments.
Which devices does it cover?
Routers, switches and Linux hosts.
How do I install it?
Run: npx skills add https://github.com/affaan-m/ecc --skill network-interface-health
Is it free?
Yes. It is free and open source.
Are there security findings?
The skills.sh listing shows Gen Agent Trust Hub, Socket and Snyk all passing.
