About openspec-propose

O

openspec-propose

Propose a new OpenSpec change with all artifacts generated in one step

openspec-propose is an agent skill from the OpenSpec project that proposes a new change in one step. You describe what you want to build, and the skill creates the change and generates all of its planning artifacts together. With the default spec-driven schema, that means a proposal that says what and why, a spec delta that describes what the system must do, a design document that describes how, and a tasks file of implementation steps. Capability paths follow the project's existing layout, so an existing capability keeps its full path. The skill is strict about its boundary. It creates planning artifacts only, and it does not edit project code. Even if the request asks you to build or fix something, the proposal stops once the artifacts are presented, and implementation starts only when you explicitly ask for the apply workflow in a new request. It runs the same checks as the other OpenSpec skills: it selects a registered store when the work lives in one, and before writing it confirms that the project has an OpenSpec root, stopping rather than creating an openspec folder by accident. It is for developers who want a complete plan to review before any code is written. Install it with npx skills add https://github.com/fission-ai/openspec --skill openspec-propose.
