About rules-distill

rules-distill
Scan skills to extract cross-cutting principles and distill them into rules
rules-distill is an agent skill from the ECC collection by affaan-m, listed on skills.sh. It scans the skills installed on a machine, finds cross-cutting principles that show up in several of them, and distils those principles into rules. It can append to an existing rule file, revise content that is out of date, or create a new rule file. The skill follows a deterministic collection plus judgment approach: scripts first gather the facts exhaustively, then the language model reads the full context and reaches a verdict on each finding. It is meant for periodic maintenance of rules, for running after new skills are installed, for turning the patterns a skill-stocktake reveals into rules, and for cases where the rules feel incomplete compared with the skills actually in use. It works in three phases, starting with an inventory of the installed skills. A skill is a SKILL.md file of instructions that an AI agent loads when a task calls for it. It is free and open source, and the skills.sh listing shows all three security audits passing.
