It helps an agent add components, search for them, fix and debug them, style them, and compose them into interfaces, including chat interfaces. shadcn/ui adds component source code directly to your project through its CLI rather than installing a package you cannot edit, and the skill follows that model. At the start it gathers the project's context by running the shadcn info command, which returns the project configuration and the components already installed. For any component, the agent can get its documentation and example links with the shadcn docs command. The skill tells the agent to run the CLI through the project's own package runner, such as npx, pnpm dlx or bunx --bun, based on the packageManager setting. The skill contains shell command directives that may run commands on your system, so the listing asks you to review it before installing.
