slo-implementation

Define and implement Service Level Indicators

slo-implementation is an agent skill from the wshobson/agents collection for defining and implementing service level indicators (SLIs), service level objectives (SLOs) and error budgets. The aim is to set measurable reliability targets that balance reliability against the pace of new releases. An SLI is a measurement of the service as users experience it, such as the share of requests that succeed or the share that finish quickly. An SLO is the target set for that measurement over a period, and an error budget is the amount of unreliability the target allows, which a team can spend on change. The skill covers the hierarchy from SLI to SLO to SLA, the agreement with customers that sometimes sits on top of the SLO, and how to implement error budgets so that a team knows when it has room to ship and when it should focus on stability. It also covers creating SLO-based alerts, which fire when the error budget is being used up too quickly rather than on every small blip. It applies when defining reliability targets, measuring what users perceive, implementing error budgets, creating SLO-based alerts, and tracking reliability goals over time. The targets should be chosen with the product and business owners, since an SLO that is too strict slows delivery and one that is too loose hides real problems. The skill is installed with the skills CLI from the wshobson/agents repository. Its skills.sh page showed about 10.2K installs and passing results from three security audits at the time of the scan.
