About stop-slop

stop-slop

Remove AI writing patterns from prose

stop-slop is a writing skill that removes predictable AI writing patterns from prose. Use it when you are drafting, editing or reviewing text, to take out the tells that make writing sound machine-made. Its rules are specific. It cuts filler phrases, including throat-clearing openers, emphasis crutches and all adverbs, and points to a reference list of phrases. It breaks formulaic structures such as binary contrasts, negative listings, dramatic fragmentation, rhetorical setups and false agency, with a separate reference list of structures. It asks for active voice, so every sentence has a human subject doing something, and it flags inanimate objects performing human actions. It asks for specific claims over vague declaratives, and it warns against absolutes such as every, always and never when they do vague work. It also asks the writer to put the reader in the room, using you rather than people and specifics rather than abstractions. For rhythm, it recommends varying sentence lengths, using two items rather than three, and ending paragraphs differently, and it rules out em dashes. The skill says to state facts directly and skip softening and justification. It is installed with npx skills from the hardikpandya/stop-slop repository, and its security audits all pass.
