About testing

testing
How to write tests, when to use each type of test, and how to run them
Testing is an agent skill that explains how to write and run tests for the Turso database. It sets out the four test types and when to use each. The .sqltest suites in sqlite/conformance are the preferred place for new SQL compatibility tests, and they let the same cases run against several backends, such as the command-line tool and the Rust bindings. The legacy TCL tests in the testing directory cover older SQL compatibility and are being phased out. Rust integration tests in tests/integration are for regression tests and complex scenarios, and the fuzz tests in tests/fuzz are for complex features and edge case discovery. The skill also covers converting old .test files to .sqltest, and how to write new cases. To run the main suite, which includes the TCL compatibility tests, the sqlite3 compatibility tests and the Python wrappers, use the make test target. The skill is aimed at contributors who need to know which kind of test fits a change and where it belongs. It is listed on skills.sh under the Turso repository. Its audit results are Gen Agent Trust Hub: Pass, Socket: Pass and Snyk: Pass.
