About user-research

user-research
Plan, conduct, and synthesize user research
User-research is an agent skill that helps plan, run and synthesize user research studies. It gives a method guide that matches each approach to its purpose. User interviews build a deep understanding of needs and motivations, usually with 5 to 8 people over 2 to 4 weeks. Usability testing evaluates a specific design or flow with 5 to 8 participants in 1 to 2 weeks. Surveys quantify attitudes and preferences and need 100 or more responses, typically over 1 to 2 weeks. Card sorting informs information architecture with 15 to 30 participants in about a week. Diary studies show behavior over time with 10 to 15 participants across 2 to 8 weeks, and A/B tests compare specific design choices until the result is statistically significant. The skill also covers the structure of an interview guide. You can trigger it with phrases such as user research plan, interview guide, usability test, survey design or research questions. It is part of Anthropic's knowledge-work plugins.
