About deanpeters/proto-persona

deanpeters/proto-persona
Create hypothesis-driven personas before conducting full research
proto-persona is a skill that creates an early, assumption-based persona. It synthesizes the research you already have, the market signals and what stakeholders know into a working hypothesis about your target user. The profile is meant to align the team early in product development, guide first design decisions, and show the gaps in understanding that need validation through real research. Its guiding idea is to make team assumptions about users explicit and challengeable. It fits situations where you need a working customer profile before you can afford real research, where everyone on the team pictures a different user and that disagreement is causing arguments, and where you want a persona you intend to validate rather than defend. You pass the target user or segment as the argument. The estimated time is 15 to 25 minutes, and the skill sits in the discovery and research theme of the product-manager-skills repository on GitHub.
