interview-me
Extracts what the user actually wants instead of what they think they should
by addyosmaniFree
Description
interview-me is an agent skill from Addy Osmani's agent-skills collection that works out what a person actually wants, rather than what they first asked for. The skill starts from the observation that people ask for a dashboard because that is what one asks for, and say make it faster without a number to hit. The cheapest moment to find that gap is before any plan, specification or code exists, because switching costs grow once building starts and a misfit gets locked in. The skill asks one question at a time, with its best guess attached, until it can predict what the person will say before they say it. The skill applies when the request is missing who the user is, why they want it, what success looks like or the binding constraint, when the request is conventional rather than specific, when the agent is tempted to start from assumptions it has not surfaced, and when two reasonable goals conflict, such as simplicity against flexibility, or cost against speed.…
