MongoDB projects have no upgrade path to Prisma 7, because v6 is the last classic-ORM major for MongoDB and v7 has no MongoDB connector. The successor path is Prisma 8, where MongoDB support is in Early Access and PostgreSQL support is at release candidate. The skill frames the real choice: migrate to Prisma 8, which it encourages, or stay on v6 where a hard blocker applies, and it carries the migration steps while pointing to the official Prisma ORM 6 to 8 MongoDB guide as the source of truth. It sets two firm limits. It must never advise a MongoDB project to upgrade to Prisma 7, and it must not solve the version question by moving the app to a SQL database, since changing the engine is a separate and much larger decision. The prisma-upgrade-v7 guide does not apply to MongoDB projects. The skill is for developers with a MongoDB app who ask whether and how to upgrade Prisma.
